Alexis and I drove over to Walden Pond and took a beautiful walk around the entire thing. We went to the spot where Thoreau lived in a one room cabin and wrote some of his most famous poems and essays. Nothing can beat that calm and peaceful feeling of a gorgeous fall day that involved  absolutely no social media. Although the entire internet and social media aspect of our lives keeps us connected, it also separates us from being part of some truly spectacular moments. I was reminded to enjoy the moment and be part of what was happening around me. In the words of Thoreau himself:  “You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment. Fools stand on their island of opportunities and look toward another land. There is no other land; there is no other life but this.”
