DECORATING IN NEUTRALS
When we moved into our home, for some inexplicable reason, every room had been painted yellow by the previous owners. When I say yellow, I do not mean yellow-bordering-on-cream, I mean build me up buttercup yellow! It took us a while, but we finally had the interior painted recently and the results were perfect. I researched for months and knew I wanted a neutral color, but one that made a statement. After looking at hundreds of swatches, Stonington Gray by Benjamin Moore (http://www.benjaminmoore.com/) was the winner. It has a chameleon like quality and reads a bit blue in the daylight, and a more true gray at night. We decided to keep the accessories neutral too – but didn’t want boring. Our rug, The Souk from West Elm (http://www.westelm.com/) stood out to us right away and went perfectly with the gray, black, cream and white theme we decided upon. For the pillows and throws, we chose different textures and sizes. Here is a picture of the finished product (again, Phoebe is really digging this decorating thing!):
