CHIC COCKTAILS – THE HOLIDAY SERIES, PART 1

This time of year conjures up images of drinking hot chocolate under warm blankets as an escape from all of the holiday madness. Today, in the first of my new Chic Cocktails series, I am sharing a way to spice up your hot chocolate for added holiday cheer!  Cheers my friends. Cheers!

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the milk with the cream and rum and bring to a simmer over moderate heat. Remove the pan from the heat, add the chocolate and let stand until melted. Whisk until smooth, pour into glasses and serve. (If you want to go all out, top with a dollop of cream and sprinkle with coconut flakes or cinnamon, then add a peppermint stick  for the ultimate treat). 
  2. Hot Chocolate with Rum
  1. 5 1/2 cups whole milk
  2. 1/2 cup heavy cream
  3. 2 tablespoons dark rum
  4. 9 ounces bittersweet chocolate, coarsely chopped
