Shop Goth – Well, Goth Inspiration

So, it seems like all of the hottest trends this fall are rocker-inspired. There’s the grunge that I’ve talked and talked about - and then talked about some more, and now there’s a decidedly goth trend coming up. It’s like this season’s fashion is a parade of all those I-can’t-believe-I-wore-that stages we went through in high school. Except now, in an uncharacteristic turn for the serious business of fashion, we’re not taking ourselves so seriously, and we’re having fun with those questionable trends. And now, we’ve got the style wisdom to know how to make even the most questionable trends runway-worthy. Flannel shirts, for example. When you were in eighth grade and wore a flannel shirt, it was probably three sizes too big, and maybe you belted it with a sweatshirt tied around your waist – guess it depends on how old you are. But now, you wear a fitted flannel shirt thrown “effortlessly” (read: perfectly placed) over a sleek burnout black maxi dress and drape the entire ensemble in chunky statement necklaces. See? We learn from history. Looking through some of these amazing goth looks popping up, I’m beginning to see what I can do right this time around to make a darker, rock-inspired look fashionable instead of fatal.
