Indie Spotlight | Shaina Mote

This is a post evolution of sorts… Initially I was going to blog my top 5 favorite favorite emerging lines; that is until I was gasp-stricken by Shaina Mote. Mote debuted her first collection this past Spring and screamed feminine charm.

Her upcoming Autumn/Winter collection is taking my breath away. I absolutely adore every piece in the collection, and I think the play on masculine/feminine cuts is very well done. Shaina describes the lines inspiration:

“heavily inspired by the detailing of the 1930’s and 40’s and menswear from that time. Hearty flannel, tough cotton twill, corduroy and sturdy cottons are some of the fabrics used; as well as silks and knits to add a necessary delicacy to the collection.”

Not only are the designs to die for but every garment is handmade with care in Los Angeles with an emphasis placed on fabrics that are kind to the earth. Pieces are constructed from hand selected designer dead-stock textiles, making each one of about 100 or less that will be produced. All pieces are numbered to ensure the integrity and rarity of the design. Clothing that is a true work of art;  Miss Mote is MY kind of girl! Make sure to check out her blog to see first hand where she draws inspiration on a daily basis. And if you’d like to find out where to buy her pieces she’s got you covered in the “Stockists” section of her website!
