Truth be told, I’m not good at putting on makeup. I’ve tried but when it comes to blending eye shadows and drawing in eyebrows, I’m just not very good at it. Two years ago, I decided to take matters into my own hands and look for an alternative to always look made up with as minimal effort as possible. With that, I discovered EYELASH EXTENSIONS. I’m not talking about eyelash extensions that you can get at the same place you get your nails done, but a real legit eyelash salon. I turned to Yelp and found one of the greatest loves of my life, Linda from Luxe Flair.
Quality eyelashes are not cheap. My initial visit was $300 (which has now been raised, I believe) and every five to six weeks I pay $150 for refills. I know, I know it’s expensive and some people cannot justify paying this much for eyelashes but I just can’t imagine not having them anymore. They give my eyes a certain life that eyeliner could not even come close to giving. And the compliments from random strangers aren’t so bad either!
I can’t preach enough about how amazing eyelash extensions are, and if you were ever toying with the idea of doing so – I highly recommend you trying it out! Do a simple search for for ‘eyelash extensions’ on your local Yelp.com website.
Here are a few tips for those considering getting eyelash extensions:
- Come to your appointment with a clean face! Especially around the eyes.
- Be ready to sit still for a good two to three hours for your first visit!
- Bring on the pain! I’m not going to lie, your first time will be painful but as you get used to it, the pain will slowly go away. (One of my girlfriends even now finds it relaxing).
- Come with sample pictures! I came in with a picture of Kim Kardashian and she did an amazing job at replicating the look.
- You get what you pay for. The normal price for a full set of QUALITY lashes is in the $300 – 400 range.
And if my testimony was not enough, here are a few amazing pictures I’ve collected these past two years of my lashes.

Love the DRAMA that my eyelashes bring.

This was 6 weeks into my lashes! They still looked amazing.

My Wedding Day! Love, love, love the my lash line!

This lash setting was meant to look more ‘natural’. I think the look was achieved… aren’t my nephews cuties?
